The new Golf R

These models feature enhanced driving dynamics, exclusive standard equipment, and an impressive output of 245 kW (333 PS), marking an increase of 10 kW (14 PS) from their predecessors. Their top speed of 155 mph can be elevated to 168 mph with the optional R-Performance package, making these Golf R versions the fastest Volkswagen production models in the world, along with the Arteon R Shooting Brake.

The exclusive Golf R Black Edition model, boasts a sleek dark look: featuring darker VW badges and R logos, black R brake callipers with a dark R logo, black 19-inch Estoril wheels, and black tailpipe trims. Standard features include darkened IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. Additionally, this model comes with the R-Performance package, which is an optional extra for other models.

The new R models are built on the eighth generation of the Golf, which got a significant update this year. Their dynamic design includes a revamped front with LED Plus headlights, an illuminated VW badge, and air curtains in the bumper, along with new LED tail light clusters. Optional 19-inch “Warmenau” wheels are also available. These wheels have a sleek design, weigh only eight kilograms each, and provide efficient brake cooling.

The interior of the Golf R models is designed with the driver in mind and features exclusive "R" styling. Both the driver and front passenger have top sports seats with integrated head restraints. An optional black nappa leather interior is available, featuring carbon-look elements with blue accents on the sides and an "R logo" on the seat backrest. Additionally, real carbon interior accents are available as an option. These details emphasize the high-quality and exclusive design of the new Golf R.

The infotainment system has been upgraded with new hardware and software, now featuring Volkswagen's largest display at 32.8 cm. The user experience has been greatly improved with updated graphics and a new menu structure for the touch display. The illuminated touch sliders for automatic climate control and volume, along with the voice assistant IDA, which uses AI-based "ChatGPT" to answer questions, have been newly developed. The touch steering wheel's responsiveness has also been enhanced.
