Know how recuperation works – as well as the difference between its automatic and manual modes.

Learn more in our easy guide video.

How does recuperation work?

Your e-tron has two recuperation modes.

Automatic Mode

In this mode, the car chooses optimum times to engage recuperation for every driving situation.

Manual Mode

(Manual mode is standard on e-tron, e-tron Sportback and e-tron GT – check model specification)

In this mode, the higher you set the recuperation level the more charge is put back into the battery.

Use your steering wheel paddles to set one of the three levels.

The higher the recuperation level, the faster you slow down when you lift off the accelerator.
