The Belfast Giants are set to hit the road – and the ice – in style this season, thanks to an expanded partnership with Agnew Belfast Volvo that will see the club’s players and coaching staff have access to a fleet of fully electric Volvo EX30 and EX40 vehicles.
Featuring Giants’ branding, the cutting-edge SUVs will be used by the team throughout the 2025/26 campaign, delivering zero tailpipe emissions, exceptional performance, and advanced safety features. The move reflects a shared commitment between the Giants and Agnew Belfast Volvo to champion sustainability and promote the benefits of electric mobility, and support Volvo’s ambition for 90-100 per cent of its global sales to consist of electrified vehicles by 2030.
Steve Thornton, Sports Director at The Odyssey Trust, said: “This is a partnership that continues to grow both in scale and impact. Providing our players and coaches with electric vehicles is a fantastic way to support their needs while promoting more sustainable transport, and we’re grateful for Agnew Belfast Volvo’s ongoing support to help us achieve this.”
In a nod to Volvo’s Swedish heritage, the partnership will also see Agnew Belfast Volvo sponsor new signing Marcus Eriksson, a fellow Swede making his debut in Belfast this season. They will also back club captain David Goodwin and Head Coach Adam Keefe, strengthening their presence at the heart of the organisation. Additionally, for the first time, Agnew Belfast Volvo’s branding will feature prominently on the front of the Giants’ 2025/26 jersey, on the player’s shorts, and across rink boards at The SSE Arena, Belfast.
Ciaran Dinsmore, Head of Business at Agnew Belfast Volvo, commented: “We’re proud to support the Belfast Giants, a team that embodies excellence, teamwork, and innovation. Supplying them with all-electric EX30 and EX40 vehicles underlines Volvo’s commitment to sustainability and its goal to electrify most global sales by 2030. Sponsoring Marcus Eriksson connects to our Swedish heritage, and with the new £1,500 EV grant from Volvo on the EX30, it’s a great time for electric mobility. We’re excited to lead the way—on the ice, on the road, and towards a greener future.”
