Since 1977, the Motability charity has been working in partnership with manufacturers to provide the Motability Scheme. This nationwide initiative enables participants to exchange their mobility allowance for a comprehensive lease package, covering not only the vehicle but also insurance, maintenance, and servicing costs. The scheme aims to provide greater mobility and independence to individuals who might otherwise face challenges in accessing transportation.
The scheme is government approved and funded, and supported by many world-renowned motoring brands including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volvo and Volkswagen.
The Agnew Group are proud to support the Motability scheme in Northern Ireland, and can offer a wide range of manufacturers to choose from. Different vehicles suit different people, so our Motability Specialists will help you make sure you’re making the right choice for you. Selected vehicles can also be specially converted from a standard vehicle to a wheelchair accessible vehicle or be fitted with adaptions according to your needs, helping you drive, access, or store mobility aids in your car.
To be eligible to join the Motability Scheme, you need to receive one of the following disability benefits and you must have at least 12 months’ award length remaining. Please note that the Attendance Allowance cannot be used to lease a car through the Scheme.
The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car by exchanging their Government funded mobility allowance. If you receive either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) , the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme.
When choosing a new vehicle, there is a lot to consider, including cost, suitability and fuel consumption. To make it easier to find a vehicle that meets your needs, please speak to any of our trained specialists who will ‘best match’ your specific requirements to the new car you deserve.
Once you’ve worked out what’s important to you in a vehicle, the next step is to visit a dealer. With 12 dealerships in the Agnew Group offering Motability cars from 8 Manufacturers we are bound to have one perfect for you. You can discuss your preferred options with a fully trained Motability specialist at any of the sites and arrange a test drive. We will also discuss whether optional extras or adaptations might help make driving easier or more comfortable.
Once you have decided which vehicle is right for you, your Motability specialist will complete your order with you using our simple online system. We will then send you an acceptance letter containing your Personal Identification Number (keep this safe as you need it to collect your vehicle). Before making your final decision it’s worth discussing with us the expected delivery time for your new car as this can vary from model to model. It could take a few weeks, but please stay in touch with your dealer in case there are delays. Remember to check the ‘Immediate Availability’ section of this website if you require a car quickly.

I just wanted to say how much we appreciated Louise’s help with this whole process, which at times seemed a bit of a minefield with the paperwork etc. At all times Louise kept my wife fully advised on where the car was, estimation of delivery and when my wife wanted to keep her previous registration; again this was no problem.
