The safe re-opening of our workshops: A message from the Group Managing Director

Re-opening our Service Departments Safely 

Dear Customers, 

Further to my message on April 8th, I would like to update you on our plans to re-open our workshops. 

On March 23rd the Government ordered all non-essential retail businesses in the UK to close as part of a national lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus. Under lockdown, garages with workshops have always been allowed to operate. However, due to safety concerns and wishing to play our part in the national cause of: Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives, we have so far chosen to only operate a small number of our workshops to support key workers. 

We believe however, that provided we can adhere to the Government’s strict social distancing measures, now is the time to begin re-opening our workshops for the benefit of all customers. 

The safety and well-being of our customers and colleagues remains our number one priority, so to ensure this, we have put together a detailed plan to guide us through the re-opening process.  

This plan includes numerous social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures, new operating processes and the widespread introduction of personal protective equipment to ensure everyone’s safety. 

To help explain how we are ensuring the safety of our colleagues and customers when you next visit our workshop, we’ve put together a guide and a short video, which you can  view here. 

One of the key changes for our business is that we must limit the number of customers and colleagues in our dealerships at any one time. As such, our service departments will operate strictly on an appointment only basis, and I ask that you please contact your dealership to make a booking in advance.  Request a booking here .

Whilst our sales showrooms will remain closed until the Government permits us to re-open them, by opening our workshops we will be able to re-start preparing new and used cars ready for collection for when the time is right. 

I am also pleased to announce that customers can now reserve a used car using our recently introduced ‘reserve online’ feature on

Our dealership sales teams are working remotely and able to assist you with taking enquiriesorders and reserving cars.   And as soon as we have been given Government permission to fully re-open our showrooms, we will make contact to arrange the appointment for your handover at the earliest possible opportunity.   

Without doubt, this has been the most challenging period during the Group’s 89 years of being in business; we have had to adapt and reconfigure the way in which we operate to ensure your safety and I want to thank you for your understanding and continued support during this unsettling time.
