The e-tron: the first all-electric Audi
Added: 20 September 2018
Audi have revealed the much-anticipated e-tron, a fully electric Audi which marks a significant step in the future of the brand and truly demonstrates the “Vosprung Durch Technik” ethos which translates to “Progress through technology”. This advanced technology is soon available early in 2019 and, advance deposits are being taken, so if you want to have the chance to purchase this model please contact us today.
The e-tron provides everything you would expect from an Audi, just powered via electricity. The e-tron is dramatic in appearance with, flowing contours aided by optional virtual wing mirrors which lend it exceptional aerodynamics that produce efficiency and an almost silent drive. The e-tron maintain the iconic Audi design cues such as the octagonal grille and sharp styling which clearly mark it as an Audi SUV.
Step inside and you’ll see that the e-tron’s modern, uncluttered design accentuates the cabin’s spaciousness. Unlike conventional models, there’s no centre tunnel that impedes space. Customisable virtual cockpit, discrete touch-screens with haptic feedback, voice-command controls and an unobtrusive centre console allow for a clear, expansive dashboard. Finished with first-class materials and with almost total noise insulation, the experience for up to 5 passengers is one of supreme comfort and luxury.
The fact the e-tron is powered by electric does not mean performance is sacrificed. An electric motor at the front and one at the rear jointly produce 300kW of power, propelling this full-sized SUV from 0-62mph in less than 6 seconds. Unlike a combustion-powered vehicle, the acceleration response is almost instant, providing a thrilling sensation at launch.
The e-tron goes the distance too, with a range of 248 miles* on a single charge under stringent test conditions. Recharging is possible in several ways: at home, via a domestic socket or, for a reduced charging time, with a specially fitted wallbox; or on the road, via high-power charging stations. Where available, the e-tron can be replenished at 150kW terminals that can recharge the battery to 80% within 30 minutes and 100% within 50 minutes.
A striking design difference and improvement is the option of virtual wing mirrors. They replace traditional glass mirrors with cameras that stream a view of what’s behind, onto displays mounted within the front doors. Far narrower than standard mirrors, they not only reduce drag, but also help cut the already impressively low wind noise.
