Presenting the Volkswagen ID.3
Added: 11 September 2019
Volkswagen showcases the ground-breaking ID.3 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The release of this new model takes Volkswagen into a new era, it expands the Volkswagen offering as the first model of pure electric vehicles with zero local emissions, exceptional efficiency, full connectivity and the first model featuring the new Volkswagen logo.
Head of Sales and Marketing for the ID Family Silike Bagschik states ‘The ID.3 is an all-rounder that is suitable for everyday use. It is compact, as such offering the manoeuvrability of a small car with the interior space of a mid-range vehicle. It combines exciting design with innovative technology and significant range,”
The ID.3 features carbon- neutrality, fantastic driving dynamics, innovative interior and brand-new designs for display elements and controls. All the driver information like speed and range are showcased on a vibrant digital screen behind the steering wheel.
The ID lights have also been newly designed to support drivers with an LED strip navigation that prompts the driver to brake in event of dangers. All controls are operated by using touch functions with only the electric windows and hazard warning lights using physical switches.
Now onto the information you're dying to know!
The ID.3 is available with 3 battery size options the basic has a usable energy content of 45 kWh and enables an electrically powered range of up to 330 kilometres (as per WLTP). The entry price for this ID.3 version is under €30,000. Alongside this is a battery variant with 58 kW, which enables the ID.3 to achieve a range of up to 420 km (as per WLTP). The energy content of the largest battery is 77 kWh, and its electric range is up to 550 kilometres (as per WLTP).
As the ID.3 has fast charging capabilities, it is possible to charge the ID.3 sufficiently for a range of around 290 kilometres (WLTP) within 30 minutes, using a charging output of 100 kW. The batteries themselves are integrated into the underbody. This positioning has a positive effect on driving dynamics, as it moves the centre of gravity in the ID.3 significantly lower. The ID.3 is also characterised by optimum weight distribution between front axle and rear axle.
ID.3 and ID.3 1st Editions will be exclusively available to all ID.3 pre-bookers, and the ID.3 will be our standard UK production model from summer 2020.
